Now a regular highlight in the calendar, V&A meetings are held every 2 months and have turned out to be vital, lively sessions in the life of the town.

They start with a cuppa, bite and time for a quick hello to others – whether old friends or new faces.

There’s chat about different hot topics… big changes that affect everyone in the town. There’s often a speaker with specialist knowledge asking questions and answering them too.

WHAT’S ON THE AGENDA

  • We open 2025, on the 3rd if February with Kerry Monteith sharing Action in the Community, highlighting the work of DG Works and the Employability and Skills Partnership. At each meeting we give the opportunity for groups and organisations who provide services to the community to share what they are doing and the impact they make in the town.

In the Spotlight, we kick off with Barbara Chalmers. Do you remember the Place Plan being created? This year there will be action taken to start the Place Plan becoming a reality. Come to find out where the money is coming from and how it will be invested in Stranraer to create the new story for the town.

Also in the Spotlight is Wendi Cuffe from the Stranraer Water Sports Association. There have been great successes in the past few years and now there is funding to grow and develop sports on the loch that are available to everyone. Wendi will share these stories and all the fun events coming in 2025, PLUS the development of the water sports building.

We will also be joined by Katharine Wheeler, who will be talking to us about the What We Do Now network, a newly established network for Dumfries and Galloway, managed by The Stove, to support creative placemaking work and development in our region. What We Do Now is a growing network of hubs, practitioners and partners passionate about the power of creativity in community-led work. Katharine will talk to us about the events What We Do Now hosts, membership activities and programmes, and how you can get involved.

This will be a very exciting and positive meeting to prepare you for a vibrant and exciting year ahead.
