One key concern that emerged in Place Planning conversations – over and over – was the state of medical services in Stranraer. It’s hard to see a doctor; there are no specialist clinics here; and maybe worst of all for the immediate risk to life – indeed live– is the lack of maternity provision. Women having to travel to Dumfries at their most vulnerable is unconscionable. Young women at secondary school see this as a big issue for the town. Similarly, the withdrawal of sexual awareness services at school is a worry for them.

We have a group of professionals advising  us to help shape an ‘ask’ around medical services for the Place Plan.

And the good news…  we hear the NHS intends to carry out consultation two weeks running in Morrisons. Catch them there on 7 and 14 March.
